Tonight we had a bunch of errands to run. I got home around 7 o’clock, changed out of my work clothes (that’s always the first thing I do when I get home), we ate dinner, and then we set out to take care of business. That business being the very necessary task of carrying trash from one place to another, and then carrying more trash from the same first place to a second different place. Does that make sense?
Anyway. The point is we moved around a bunch of trash and spent about two hours in the truck all together. In those two hours I learned something new and kind of disturbing about myself. Pa los que me conocen, y’all know I love to stay current.
Especially with music.
The problem is with all the terrible noise being passed off as music nowadays (ahem, ahem… Miley Cyrus), I’m starting to tune away from the pop stations a little more every single day. At first I didn’t think much of it. You know, I’m still hip! I just don’t happen to care for Miley Cyrus… Kesha… Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Nikki Minaj, Britney Spears, etc., etc., etc. Believe me. I could keep going here. The thing is as we were driving back home (with about 12 jumbo trash bags full of crap in the back of the pickup), I realized for most of the car ride there and back my tuner had been set to the local Recuerdo station.
Recuerdo, as in memories. Hits of yesteryear. Yes, you might even say the Golden Oldies!
OUCH!! That hurts to put in writing.
But yeah, I much rather would prefer to listen to Rocio Durcal, Bronco, Selena y Los Dinos, Alejandra Guzman, Lucero, La Mafia, and so many other great artists that actually make or made music… not noise.
Which painfully made me come to the conclusion, ¡que me estoy poniendo viejo!
I guess it does happen to everyone.

You know you’re old when… they make a “period” movie about the decade when you were a teenager.
I haven’t thought about Rocio Durcal in ages. I’m off to amazon.com to make a purchase right now!
I know what you mean. I try to stay current by watching VH1 Top 20 every week but can’t get into most of that music. I find myself listening to the 60s on 6 and Soul Town on Sirius instead.
