Juan of Words

Houston, you have a new signature drink!

This is a sponsored post written on behalf of Martell Caractére. All opinions are our own.

The Houstonian. Two simple words meant to embody the energy and excitement that Houston represents. Spicy and fun, yet homey and familiar. Friendly. A city where people say “hello” to complete strangers. Where being a little bit country is cool. A city with style. A growing city. A city with passion! For the arts. For food. For diversity. For culture. And most importantly for a lot of Texas pride. The folks at Martell Caractére knew they couldn’t quite possibly represent Houston in a single mixed drink without taking our Lone Star state into account too.

And that’s precisely what they’ve done with The Houstonian! It’s made with cactus fruit – tunas if you prefer – a gentle kick of orange liqueur, lime juice, aromatic bitters, and of course Martell’s exciting new cognac, Caractére.

Martell Caractére is characterized by its harmonious pairings. Pear and citrus fruit notes – lemon, grapefruit, and tangerine peel – delicately heightened by cinnamon and vanilla notes for an unforgettable finish.

We were excited to partner with Martell to dream up this signature cocktail in honor of our great city. Houston, after all, is the place we love and the home we claim as our own. We spent a lot of time talking about what makes Houston special. We kicked around the usual nicknames associated with her personality. You know: Space City, The Bayou City, H-town, etc. Yet in the end The Houstonian seemed to capture what we’re all about in such a simpler and more natural way. Houstonians.

We’re not a trendy city. We’re not a city with major tourist attractions. We’re a city that you come to visit and where you decide to stay. We’re a city where every other word is y’all and that’s okay. Or should we say, ¡está chido!

Hope you give this new signature cocktail a try and agree with us that it’s everything Houston represents. ¡Salud!

Please enjoy responsibly.
