‘Tis the season to be jolly and once again it’s time to try and find the perfect gift for those on our shopping list. It’s always an ordeal no matter how low key we decide we’re going to be over previous years. Mainly because if we’re going to go through the trouble of getting someone a gift it’s always our intention to make sure it’s something they will actually enjoy.
That doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be an expensive or large gift. It can be something pretty simple actually, but it should mean something to the person who will be unwrapping it on Christmas Day.
For this holiday season, we have decided to accept a new type of challenge for our holiday gift shopping. The goal is to make every dollar we spend count as much as possible. We are actually participating in the JCPenney holiday challenge.
In a nutshell, this gifting season, JCPenney is inviting all of us to take the holiday challenge (#JCPchallenge) to beat our holiday budget. How do you do that? Well it’s pretty easy. You can get all you want for less than you think – from hot trending items and holiday must-haves to unexpected finds – all available in-store or online at a great value. Because Anjelica and I both have pretty large families, finding the best deals is always of the utmost importance to us.
To begin our shopping this year we waited for the week of Thanksgiving to make our first run to our local JCPenney. Instead of waiting for Black Friday, however, we decided to beat the rush by shopping the day before Thanksgiving. We did find a lot of great deals just the same for our budget of about $100.
Oddly enough the gifts we found captured a little bit of everything for our families. From the vehicle emergency kit for my nephew who just got his new car this year, to the Tarte starter makeup kit that we found for one of our nieces, the gifts we found are all just what we know they will love and be able to use. Even the cashier who checked us out made a comment about how everything we found was so interesting and thoughtful.
I know my nephew is going to love this Toy Story character costume of Sheriff Woody. It’s just the fun, make-believe type of gift that’s perfect for the little ones on your list.
For the teenage young ladies on your list, this Tarte starter makeup kit is perfect for adding a little variety to the collection of makeup they are most likely beginning already. And as Anjelica would say, you can never have too much makeup.
We also found this charging tassel keychain by Jade & Deer that’s perfect for the woman on-the-go. The tassel seriously serves as a phone charger as well as a fashionable accessory. The same goes for the Liz Claiborne wallet that comes with a chargeable battery pack inside. You can charge your wallet and connect it to your phone when your battery starts running low. Talk about functional.
For the guys on our list we found both a seven-piece emergency kit by Road Trip, and the on-the-go table tennis set by Nifty. Because it’s just as important to always be prepared as it is to always have a little fun.
We spent right at $100 for all of these items, and managed to check quite a few names off of our gift giving list. It’s already in our plans to make another trip to JCPenney very soon to continue our holiday shopping.
Go ahead and take the #JCPchallenge yourself and see how much you can save.
It’s a great feeling to know you beat your budget.
