Hey y’all, thanks for visiting us! We are Juan and Anjelica, founders of this blog and website since 2010.
We are originally from the Great State of Texas and now also live part time in Northwest Arkansas. Anjelica and I met and got married in Houston – (there’s a story there too, if you have an extra minute). Both of us are first generation Mexican-Americans with family roots in different parts of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where we each spent a lot of our summers growing up. Anjelica’s family is from Bocas. Mine is from Cerritos.
Our son Edgar has grow up with his parents creating online content as a hobby, and then as a career. He’s a great young man with a lot of passion and compassion. As parents we have done our best to instill in him a deep sense of pride and identity in his culture and heritage.
What started out as a hobby has now become our way of life – with Anjelica and I founding two marketing and communications agencies (Big Oak Tree Media and Market Street Consultants), several podcasts, and developing an agency team just as committed as we are to elevating diverse voices.
Feel free to reach out to us anytime. You can always reach me via email at juanofwords@gmail.com.

Dude, I love your witt and style!! I always joke about the “words” my parents used when we were young. “Aplacate” that ment “behave” but I went out and go a license plate and “pues, me Aplace” then when I had to wait….it was “Aguardate”…so I jumped en un cajon…LOL….si I can so relate to your HUMOR!!! Keep up the great work!

Juan had an awsum time at the movie premier. The meet-up is a really good idea.
I’m a die hard Farmville Player,I noticed they have started a live chat and a directory to start your own meet and greet here in our local areas..Channelview and Baytown haveing the most players. No-one has done one thou.I find it amazing how many gamers do not speak english..I had to have my 16yr old put a translator on my user, its a social game so we must chat if you wanna play well. Everyones into the Theory of why FV is taking over the gaming world…maybe we should do a piece on it…and you can set up a gamers greet for Spanish speaking players.I dont speak Spanish. I also wondered how many local Spanish (only)speaking Hispanic players their really are. This game is HUGE in Mexico…have many players their…and many more sending me friend requests

Great blog, found it when reading the Houston Chronicle some time ago. Being born and raised in H-town, but now in LA, I find myself reading the Chronicle to feel close to home. I read your article on Salma Hayek today, very proud for her. Being a Latino Actor myself, we are constantly battling the forces of Hollywood, to get recognition for our work. But it almost always falls on deaf ears. Slowly we are making a difference. Have you heard of the blog “ChicanafromChicago”? She writes about all things Latino Media, another talented Latino blogger!
