Today, we just finalized our family vacation plans for this summer. Other than the quick trip Edgar and I will be making to the East Coast for my niece’s bautismo – you know we Mexicans go all out for these rite of passage celebrations, verdad? – we’ll pretty much be staying in the Lone Star State this summer. Still, we will hopefully be doing quite a bit of traveling nonetheless.
What caught my attention and kind of made me have an uh huh moment was remembering this post right here:
Una Vez Al Año No Hace Daño
Bags packed, to the brim, no real luggage, just cardboard boxes and duffle bags, stuffed with clothes, shoes, even a few toys; stacked inside, underneath our feet, on the roof, tied down with little more than twisted rope. In the white and blue zebra suburban with no air conditioning, a crevice of space was always left in between our luggage, just big enough for the seven of us kids to take turns resting on the 12-hour-plus summer trips from Houston to San Luis Potosi. We really couldn’t sleep back there, but it was always a little slice of heaven to be able to stretch our legs. Click Here to read the full post.
¿Qué cosas no? It used to be that if our car couldn’t get us there, struggling every inch of the way, or if we couldn’t afford the bus fare, we just didn’t travel anywhere at all. Ahora, we’re all booking flights and renting vehicles y toda la cosa, jajaja!
Pues not to be conceited ni nada, but it does kind of remind you of where you’ve been and how much hard work and sacrifice it took to get to where you are now.
It gives you hope… that your biggest challenges today might not be as insurmountable as they might seem. I think that’s a pretty great way to kick off the week!

If you’re traveling to another country, take some local currency. In some places, it can be difficult to get your money exchanged outside of regular business hours. You can go to any large bank and exchange foreign currency before you go to the airport..”
